Jason Allen Paisant on being shortlisted for the T.S. Eliot Prize for his brilliant second collection Self-Portrait as Othello. Described as a ‘fine, fine accomplishment’ (Raymond Antrobus) and an ‘indispensable collection’ (The Guardian), Self-Portrait as Othello considers the Black male body, its presence, transgressiveness and vulnerabilities in relation to Othello’s own intertwined identities. Michelle Lipton on being met with praise after her episode of series 38 of CASUALTY, entitled SWITZERLAND, was aired on the BBC. Russell T. Davies took to Instagram to share his review of the episode, describing it as a ‘wonderful piece of work’ with a ‘beautiful script [that is] unexpectedly funny with a hard-won simplicity’. Andrew Haigh’s film adaptation of Strangers by Taichi Yamada as the first trailer was released.
ALL OF US STRANGERS stars Paul Mescal (Aftersun, Normal People) and Andrew Scott (Fleabag, Pride) and moves the novel’s ghostly Tokyo to dreamy London and changes the central relationship to a gay one. It’s set to be widely released in the UK in January 2024, and you can watch the trailer here.
